Scales up to 4,096 NPUs per cluster, delivering 8 EFLOPS (FP8) using the Hi-ONE Optical Engine running at 7.2 Tbit/s

Huawei launched the Atlas 960E SuperPoD at HUAWEI CONNECT 2026 in Shanghai, the industry's first SuperPoD built on NPO (Near-Package Optics) architecture, designed to support AI models with up to 10 trillion parameters.

At its core is the "Hi-ONE" optical engine, the first mass-produced NPO unit, transferring data at 7.2 Tbit/s. A single SuperPoD scales up to 4,096 NPUs, delivering 8 EFLOPS at FP8 precision and 16 EFLOPS at FP4.

Using 5,500 units of Hi-ONE instead of up to 48,000 units of 800G optical modules cuts power consumption significantly.
